Built in the Victorian period in the Mannerist style
Eccentric classical composition with diverse treatement of pediment features. This is one of the best examples of High Victorian freestyle Mannerist architecture in Australia. The uniquely elaborate dome and cupola feature and with twin square accompanying domes were removed in the 1930s. The original building followed strongly the baroque tradition.
