Built in the Interwar period in the Art-Deco style

Notable features

An remarkable early Art-Deco building which treats the top of the building as Art-Deco stretched skyscraper, and the bottom of the building as a heavily treated Edwardian facade which blends beautifully with neighbouring buildins. The result is a modern but retrospective combination.

The building almost seems a reaction to the strikingly Art-Deco neighbour in the Century building, and seems to anticipate the podium planning of the 1990s, 70 years earlier. This is combined with the new found mixed-use expression of the period.
