Built in the Edwardian period in the Edwardian Baroque style
Large edwardian mansion with cruved features and prominent gables.
After the death of its owner James Alston in 1943, Majella was used as offices including the offices of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (1951-72). It was preserved as part of an apartment redevelopment to the rear. Majella is the last remaining mansion on St Kilda Road built in the 20th Century.
