History

After the death of its owner James Alston in 1943, Majella was used as offices including the offices of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (1951-72).  It was preserved as part of an apartment redevelopment to the rear.  Majella is the last remaining mansion on St Kilda Road built in the 20th Century.
