History

Victoria Carpark is Melbourne's first multi-storey carpark constructed of reinforced concrete, a type of structure which became widespread in postwar years as use of private motor vehicles escalated.

Despite being heritage registered. A heritage permit was granted to demolish all but the facade of the carpark in 2006 while other neighbouring buildings were given council approval for demolition.
