I would have thought the Attic space was ideal for an extra bedroom.

The approved planning permits obtained by Watercress Productions from the Waverley Council for 6 - 12 Tasman St Bondi includes a first floor addition to each house that comprised of a main bedroom and another bathroom.

These houses are to be sold with the approved planning permits to allow the buyers the ability to complete the first floor addition.

During the competition the floorplans were altered to include the "linen cupboard" along side the new bathrooms because this is to allow for a stair case to the potential future first floor addition.

It did make me laugh when all 4 couples put in attic ladders to access the roof and turn the roof space into storage and some of the couples even laid new flooring, plasterboard and shelving in the roof which will all have to be removed to complete any potential future first floor addition. Also the fittings in the "linen cupboards" will also have to be removed and 8 Tasman St (Josh & Jenna) put in a sub-floor wine cellar and freezer in the "linen cupboard".

Strange.... So the planning permission allowed for first floor additions (or attic conversions going by the drawings), but due to some reason we're not privy to, this aspect was dropped, (budget?).

...Number 6 and 12 would lose their main bathroom showers if the stairs were built into the linen cupboards.

The auction of the 4 houses in Tasman Street Bondi was conducted on Tuesday 19 March 2013 with the following results.

The properties were sold with approved plans for a second floor addition. All properties had underground rain water tanks and solar panels.

For comparison, 2 Tasman Street Bondi was sold in September 2011 for $1.32 million so the sale of 10 Tasman Street Bondi for $1.37m, after a significant renovation complete with furniture, would appear that someone got a bargain.

The 4 houses were purchased by Watercress Productions for more than $4.4 million plus stamp duty in March 2012 and then had something like $900,000 of renovations carried out by the contestants and production team, plus $915,000 in prize money to the contestants, would be an overall cost to Watercress Production of about $6.48m.

From a property investment point of view, with a final sale price of $6.265m for the 4 houses it would mean that Watercress Productions has done much better than in prior series of this TV program when they have been more than $1m out of the money.
