My comment was based on the photo's (incorrect) CAPTION:
"Royal Domain Hotel.
cnr Park Street and Domain Road, South Yarra.
Before it was demolished to make way for Park Tower Apartments in the late 50s."

'Domain Park' apartments IS on cnr of Domain Rd and Park Street South Yarra. The photo is actually
St.Kilda Road and Park St South Melbourne another intersection altogether. Casa De Manana was a bar there a while back.
I can only guess at the postal confusion the residents of each corner now endure.
Thank you linesmen, thank you ballboys.

Thanks for pointing that out Joan. I've found many archived photos to be incorrectly captioned when put online. Careless ?? Who knows. But very strange indeed.

The site you mention is the Royal Domain Centre Towers - similar name to Domain Towers ...

BTW please go easy on both Collector an I, we are as enthusiastic about locating historic Melbourne buildings as you are.

Hi and thanks. This links to a SLV pic of the Travelodge corner when it used to be Sleights Funerals -
http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/pictoria/gid/ ... 1/1/a37397

and I am still contemplating the tramlines.

If you go to pictureaustralia.org/ and enter
"domain road Victoria" into the searchbox, there are lovely places all gone now, and the SLV has captioned Amesbury House as Annesbury.
cheers
