Hi all,

Apologies if this is the wrong forum however I am looking for information about a hotelier that lived in Melbourne around the turn of the century by the name of Thomas Doherty. He had a wife Jane and a son Arthur who was born in 1877.

I am tracing his history and wanting to know if anyone out there might know which hotel he ran/owned.

Thanks

Hello there,

If you go to the PROV website [Public Records of Victoria] you might find some information. Click on "Access the Collection"; "Digitised Records/ Online Indexes" and scroll down to "Early Publicans and Pastoral Runs".Then click on "Defunct Hotel Licences.."and search. Good luck!

Hello again,

Also on the PROV website check out "Wills and Probate". There are quite a few Thomas Dohertys - you need a few more details to pinpoint the right one.
