On his website he lists "20th century architecture" as one of his interests. What a joke.

Premier John Brumby said securing jobs and the economic prosperity of the sate was the 'top priority of this Government' and Emporium Melbourne would 'inject new activity and new architectural design into the heart of Melbourne's retail precinct while retaining heritage features'.........

"Retaining heritage features"..... #-o

There goes another one in to the gaping maw.

'Heritage features' sounds like the tacky pilasters people whack on their mc mansions to make them seem more cultured.

I thought I heard on the news last night they were retaining heritage buildings. Wow, I was relieved that Lonsdale House was saved. Wrong! Read The Age this morning and got the real explanation.

I'm furious! Is "Harry" just the biggest retard to ever walk the planet!! I was hoping the Brimbank branch staking episode may have removed him from sight but this the is the Victorian Labor Party we're talking about; they can do whatever they want.

So that's it? There is no way anyone can appeal, chain themselves to the building???

Madden had a stalker a while ago, wonder if we could sign him up to our cause? LOL

Only in melbourne would a former lanky looking football player be elected into parliament and then become the planning minister. This is a joke and i am over getting upset over stuff like this. Let Melbourne become a cheesier version of Sydney for all i care.

The hideous melbourne logo and now this.

To add insult to injury, the state government has allowed Colonial First State to progressively scale back the quality of their designs such that the finished product looks virtually nothing like the original renders (not that they were anything flash to start with)...

Not just of the Lonsdale building, but also the facades along Little Bourke.

Spot the differences in Emporium Lonsdale renders:

The first "concept" design:

The second "concept" design:

The latest design:

Now spot the differences on Little Bourke:

Continually degenerating and I can assure you that result will be even cheaper and nastier looking.

There are regulations for real estate agents and photoshopping, but its amazing what a real estate developer's architect/artist depiction can get away with.
