Romanesque

The Romanesque round arched style has been expressed in many buildings from the Renaissance Revival through Victorian and Federation eras.

More fanciful forms including spires and tourelles were used in American Romanesque styles and eccentric Free Classical compositions, challenging Gothic as the supreme picturesque style.

Melbournes best examples of Romanesque include the Uniting Church on Collins Street and the City Courts on Russell Street, and the Our Lady of the Victories cathedral on Bourke Road.
